Review of Krampus (2015) by Steven W — 12 Dec 2015

I cannot believe this movie isn't being heralded as an instant classic. Some of the reactions here just baffle me. This movie does everything right. The characters instantly feel like real people and the monsters are genuinely scary.

There is a so much style and wit and thoughtfulness packed into every frame. This movie is a product of love and a shining example of how to do children's horror right. The situation is genuinely frightening and the stakes feel absolutely real without ever losing an edge of wry humor.

If I had seen this movie as a child, I would've had nightmare for years. This movie deserves a much higher percentage of positive ratings. Sometimes I think people wouldn't know quality if it dropped down their chimney and stuffed them into a giant sack.

A bona fide yuletide classic that I predict will grow in appreciation and adoration as the years pass.
