Review of Krampus (2015) by Hazzagalla — 07 Dec 2016
It's a mixed bag when it comes to Krampus. The sound design, practical creatures and atmosphere are fantastic. There are scenes with genuine suspense and anxiety throughout the movie. Unfortunately, the people which inhabit the story are quite boring, especially the children.
They're nothing special acting wise or character wise. The humour throughout the movie doesn't mesh with the scenarios the movie throws at you, it just feels forced and not funny in the slightest. Krampus starts strong, but gradually slows right down.
When the movie ends, at first you feel like the movie wimped out on you but once all is revealed, the ending is actually pretty great. Krampus has spots of brilliance, but if the characters and script were stronger, it could have been a great film.
