Review of Krampus (2015) by Spencer R — 20 Dec 2015
I just saw this last night, and was pleasantly surprised by this. I thought the trailer and commercial previews would ruin this movie, and I was wrong. In my opinion, this is a great movie by Michael Dougherty.
A good addition after his Trick 'r' Treat movie a couple years ago. The design of the creatures, the set, the atmosphere, and the mood are all perfect. But, I have two minor complaints. I felt like the movie was restricted by its PG-13 rating; I don't know if they cut it to make it PG-13 or if it was just filmed this way.
But, there were a couple of scenes where you could tell they wanted to add something more to it, but held back. For example, I think they wanted to use some choice words, but instead used "fudger.
" The ending is also my only other minor complaint, not to spoil anything, but I felt like they changed the original ending. I think the test audience or the studio didn't like the original ending, and they added a couple more scenes to make a different ending.
Overall though, I highly recommend this film if you are a fan of Trick 'r' Treat or other horror comedies.
