Review of Krampus (2015) by Adam R — 15 Jan 2017
Micheal Dougherty scores another home run with his second holiday themed horror movie. Krampus is without a doubt a new Christmas classic for any fans of good old fashioned thrills and scares.
There's an undeniable sense of true craftsmanship from Dougherty and company displayed on screen. The use of practical effects and costumes (especially with Krampus and his minions), the caliber of character actors onscreen, and the beautiful but foreboding cinematography come together in a delightfully creepy way.
I'm genuinely surprised that this film isn't getting higher ratings. To each their own of course, but there's far more care and effort put into this than most Hollywood releases these days. At the very least, try to see it once before writing it off. You may be pleasantly surprised.
