Review of Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) by Chris S — 04 Apr 2010
I finally saw this classic, and best picture winner for 1979 featuring Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep as two divorcees who wage a scorched earth custody battle for their son.
Honestly I was a bit underwhelmed. A good film, but nothing extraordinary for me.
The best performance I thought, was given by the young Justin Henry, who played Billy Kramer, their son.
I can see the cultural/feminist tones in the movie. Women defining themselves as equal to men, entering the workforce and corporate world.
But it also challenged the idea that the Mother ALWAYS gets custody.
