Review of Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) by Stuart B — 18 Mar 2011
A movie I had kind of avoided over the years for some reason or another, though I knew I should watch it. Anyway, again it was very, very good, this period in both Hoffman and Streep's career must have been their strongest (along with Tootsie and Marathon Man for Hoffman; The Deer Hunter, The French Lieutenant's Woman and Sophie's Choice for Streep), and they delivered very real performances, the whole movie felt very real in fact, and because of that you couldn't really pick sides like a traditional Hollywood movie would expect you to.
I think that helped it become all the more absorbing a drama, and with Hoffman typically likeable in the lead it made for a very enjoyable movie.
