Review of Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) by Mike S — 27 May 2011
For 98% of its running length, this is a strikingly realistic film about divorce; probably the best I've seen. The film's ending, on the other hand, betrays executive meddling from Hollywood suits demanding closure; it's awkward, makes no sense, and diminishes the moral greyness and complexity of what came before it.
A shame, because the performances are to die for and the dialog is rock solid.
