Review of Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) by Angelo T — 19 May 2012
"Kramer vs. Kramer" has quite possibly the best depiction of family life I have ever seen in a film. This is an important and topical issue in our society, and the subject matter is handled with masterful direction from Robert Benton.
As well, the cast is first-rate. Dustin Hoffman musters yet another powerful and endearing performance that completely captivates. Of course, Meryl Streep and Justin Henry both do a great job with their roles, but it is Hoffman who really does the best.
He connects with the audience in a way that makes us feel for him more than any other character, and even though many argue that "Kramer vs. Kramer" doesn't take sides, it's clearly the Hoffman character that we ultimately root for.
