Review of Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) by Jimi L — 13 Feb 2011
KRAMER vs. KRAMER (1979).
Director: Robert Benton.
Cast: Dustin Hoffman, Meryl Streep.
PLOT: After being promoted, Ted Kramer (Dustin Hoffman), meets his wife, Joanna (Meryl Streep), who is leaving him. After 8 years of relationship that he thought was perfect, he is suddenly alone with his son Billy. With the time, Ted is getting better in being a father, but worst on his job.
After year and a half, Joanna comes back and starts legal action to take her son back. On the other side, as a result of spending more time with the kid, Ted is being fired from work, which will be enough for the judge to make decision in Joannas favour.
COMMENTS: Script for this movie is not maybe so special, especially part in the court where lawyers, who are rated very well, made some huge overlook of the case. Story is so typical and if you read this plot you would ask yourself: "So, what's here worth of watching?" Very long scenes with.
Dustin Hoffman and Justin Henry who is acting his son, are very very cogent. You can get real feeling of major moments in child's growing period because it is not like one shot that shows how kid learned to ride bicycle or make breakfast etc.
Ending is bit obvious, but is good whole process that convinced Joanna (streep), what is best for the kid.
Very good classic stuff!.
