Review of Kontroll (2003) by Robert M — 29 Nov 2007
If you can look past the Soviet Era production quality and the typos in the subtitles, you will find a quirky film that borrows elements from western classics and renders them into a tasty Hungarian Goulash.
The endearing characters remind the viewer how easily the impersonal nature of life in the modern city can cast the best and worst of us adrift, descending through societyâ??s layers like so much marine snow.
As true as that may be, Mr. Adler and Mr. Nimrod would also like you to take comfort in the knowledge that salvation lies at the next stop and that there isnâ??t a demon or a skeleton filled closet that a couple of good beatings and a good Hungarian woman in a bear suit could not dispel.
