Review of Kong: Skull Island (2017) by Luis G — 17 Jul 2017
This flick people say deserves to have a summer release not a spring release, but i'm satisfied with the spring release, which makes this a good option to watch on Blu-Ray in the summer. The CGI on the monster's makes them feel creepy and bone-chilling, which is what I expected the monster's to look like in a place called Skull Island.
King Kong himself has a rather weird appearance type of CGI style that I feel is great, but Peter Jackson's' King Kong CGI ape has a better feel to it. The Human character's feel generic as I seen them done in other movies better, but it doesn't dismiss the standout performances of John C.
Reilly as a old war pilot and Samuel Jackson as the antagonist of the film. I felt Reilly's character struggle to get back to his family and his emotions of getting to see society again after years of not witnessing it, very heartwarming and sweet.
Samuel Jackson's antagonist on the other hand, had me debating the reason behind his hatred for the beast ,even while anyone else saw that he meant no harm at all. Overall, two great character performance's and astonishing CGI make this film a welcome addition to the King Kong library of movies.
