Review of Kong: Skull Island (2017) by Adamcroston — 19 Mar 2017
I enjoyed this a lot more than Peter Jackson's 2005 retelling, but while this movie sells itself based on its improved focus on action, its characters, script and story are a far cry from its predecessor.
People have seemingly selected John C. Reilly's character at the standout weak point, due to has offbeat comedic presence. However I would say that he along with Brie Larson are the only two decent characters in the entire film.
Between Samuel L. Jackson's frustrating war veteran character to Tom Hiddleston's cringe enduing special forces hero there's a lot of tiresome lines of dialogue and cliches. However none of that matters in the big picture.
This is a monster movie epic, with beautiful cinematic moments, which fully captured my interest and attention. This movie is visually stunning. Overall it's a very fun action-packed popcorn movie worth the 2 hour viewing time.
