Review of Kong: Skull Island (2017) by Cole F — 24 Mar 2017
I went into this film with very little expectations, especially on hearing that this was gearing up to be part of the Godzilla universe. I cam away thoroughly surprised at how much I enjoyed the film. The 1970's setting really added to the tone of the film giving it a Vietnamesque feel.
It also added a further level of immersion that there were still parts of the planet we had never fully explored. I heard some criticism that the human characters were very 1 dimensional but I felt that although they did not have a lot to do they did enough to be interesting protagonists, especially when compared to the humans in Godzilla.
Some good action set-pieces and I thought John C Rileys character stole the show.
