Review of Kong: Skull Island (2017) by Jak-Luke S — 23 Jul 2017
Purely a spectacle with as little substance and character development I've seen in a Hollywood monster movie, but with such a fun twist that has a somewhat serious tone which for its 120 running time was a breeze to relax and be entertained.
Hiddleston was poor and completely miscast with very little charisma. Larson was underused and perhaps should've been the lead. Supporting cast was fantastic, Jackson, Goodman and Reilly all delivered with their performances and I enjoyed all their characters.
Kong is introduced wonderfully, he's big and brash and I couldn't ask for anything more. The film also has a terrific score and the cinematography is rather superb.
