Review of Kolya (1996) by Joanna R — 03 Mar 2009
Warm and witty movie from Prague. The filming is surprising technically and the classical music creates a nice ambiance. The story and the gags are just enough to give the audience a soft laugh, and it contains many of the typical Czech idiosyncrasies.
I enjoyed it a lot more than "Jazda", even though I can see certain resemblances when it comes to footage of old cars, the zooming in and the portrayal of people with liberal sexual standards.
:P If you like Czech cinema, it is a good choice.
