Review of Knowing (2009) by Liam C — 22 Oct 2012
Knowing is a very gripping film. It had me invested in it as soon as it started. It was smart, and that was where it succeeded most. The actors were good and fit the roles greatly and the action sequences look really good so much so that they looked real! The tone was dark and it didn't hold back, it didn't have to play up the happiness just to make the audience feel good.
It was two hours and I enjoyed every second of it, and I wish it went on a little longer. Some scenes however seemed to cut before they explained themselves. Example: Nicolas Cage falls asleep until 3pm and you see his son at school, who got him there? It's nothing so bad that it's a plothole that affects the whole tone of the film, just something silly that I picked up on.
Overall, very well done. It looked good, got me invested in it, worried for the characters and it had me guessing the whole way through. The ending, was very grim... I'll say that much... It also had a nice plot twist too.
