Review of Knowing (2009) by Baurushan J — 25 May 2013
Set in 1959, the story is about Lucinda who writes a series a series of numbers to put in a time capsule for her school. Fifty years later, John played by Nicolas Cage finds those numbers as his son Caleb played by Chandler Canterbury receives them once the time capsule is opened.
John investigates those numbers and finds out that they resemble the dates of every major global disaster since 1959 and indicates how many people died. John finds the daughter of Lucinda, Diana played by Rose Byrne and her daughter Abby played by the young Lucinda herself Lara Robinson and they try to figure out a way to survive and save as many people as possible whilst John confronts the disasters himself, trying to save as many lives as possible in the year 2009 but in the end, he can only save two lives: Caleb and Abby.
The movie has a very complex end-of-the-world storyline and I like that as it speaks through the science-fiction storyline only without having anything fantasy-related. I am knowing that Knowing gets a 10/10.
