Review of Knowing (2009) by Jonny B — 13 Oct 2012
Nicholas Cage leads the casting line in Alex Proyas' sci-fi thriller which is excellent on more than one occasion but is let down by a weak final third to the movie and numerous plot holes left unresolved.
When a primary school opens a time capsule contained underground for up to 50 years, young boy Caleb (Chandler Canterbury) conceals an obscure picture of what the students at the time thought the future may look like. Well is isn't actually a picture, it's a piece of paper rammed full of numbers which his father John (Cage) decides to investigate - leading to a terrifying discovery!
This apocalyptic style movie keeps its plot and direction well for the most part before tailoring off massively in the last third of the film - it appeared to be low on ideas at this moment.
