Review of Knight Rider (2008) by Tariq P — 13 Apr 2008
Well I wanted to rip this to bits and I expected to be appalled at how bad this was. However...in all honesty I found it pretty good. Being a massive Knightrider fan when I was a kid probably helped a little.
Be interested to see where they go with this. All I can really say is that it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Felt familiar enough to feel part of the original premise and the choice of characters seemed fairly well thought out.
Only major moment of cheese came right at the end with the appearence of the Hoff as the male leads father. After being mentioned throughout the movie I thought we might escape actually havin to watch him badly shoe horn himself into it.
He's such a prick I can't forgive the makers for chucking him in at the end to make some kind of statement. Kill the Hoff, save the world. Suppose I should mention the car. Think maybe they could have picked a better car, perhaps an Aston Martin or a Jaguar, instead of the overly muscular Ford Mustang.
The original KITT was sleek and streamlined. This car looks like its spent too long down the gym popping steriods. Full of cool tricks tho and agreeable enough. Newcomers steer clear. Old school Knightrider fans.
....give it a chance at least.
