Review of Knight and Day (2010) by Eric N — 12 May 2012
I had not much hope that Knight & Day would genuinely entertain me but as I try to keep an open mind and because my mind was set for some light entertainment and the DVD lying in front of me I gave it a go.
Knight & Day again proofs that you need some serious talent to make a really bad film. But not even the charismatic duo of Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise could save this disaster.
The plot was totally implausible (even for such a genre flick) and not even Tom Cruise himself could work with such cheesy dialogue and pretentious set-up (things Cruise is actually quite familiar with). However, his performance is still the highlight of the film and although he works with a talented cast, nobody else knew how to turn this awful premise into something worth watching.
I'm not really curious why this bombed at the box office. Normally, audiences who watch such mindless action flicks get at least some eye candy in form of elaborated CGI. K&D's effects are poor on the other hand.
Uninspired and generic Hollywood fare.
