Review of Knight and Day (2010) by Courtney C — 11 Dec 2011
There isn't too much to be said about "Knight and Day" except I would be lying if I said the film wasn't enjoyable, entertaining, funny, thrilling, and at all clever. The film has some clever moments, a few, thanks to the work of director James Mangold and his crew. Mangold the director of films like "Walk The Line", "3:10 To Yuma", "Girl Interupted", and "Identity". Now he casts his hands at an usual style of film to see him do, mainstream romantic action comedy, which Mangold does pull off nicely.
Setting aside his personal life, I really like Tom Cruise. He has been is some outstanding roles a few being "Interview With A Vampire", "Rain Man", "Collateral", "Minority Report", "Magnolia", and my favorite "Born On The Fourth of July". Cruise has the crazy persona just right for this film as an action spy who you don't know if he's right off the dot or completely out of his head. The film is fairly predictable, but aren't most of these style of films? This time it's forgivable due mostly to the films charms. This is a Jason Bourne spinoff which allows itself to be fun. But underneath all this is characters who care about each other, and a story which works for me. Now seeing this film once was good enough for me, and with that I am giving "Knight and Day" a mild recommendation.
