Review of Knight and Day (2010) by Chris B — 09 Jan 2012
Don't let the trailer fool you, this is not a high octane action move. Instead it's a sod awful rom com star vehicle. Scientologist (hahahahaha) Cruise is the dark and mysterious love interest, Diaz is the ditzy blonde who bumps into the unlikely 'Mr right'.
A cynical, slick Holywood product purely designed to rake in box office takings. Yes, there are gun fights and car chases. But these are punctuated by mind numbingly chiche'd dialogue and it's the romance that takes centre stage.
Probably the makers hoped the romance would keep the girls happy and the action would satisfy their dates. I hated this movie, only reason it doesn't get half a star is that it featured nice footage of an Austrain train.
I'm a nerd, so sue me. A better plot would involve Cruise locking himself in a closet whilst Diaz shouts at him to 'come out'.
