Review of Knife in the Water (1962) by Anthony S — 15 Feb 2005
VHS First Viewing, 10 Polanski films seen.
Knife in the Water was Roman Polanski's first feature length film. The black and white cinematography was really good looking, and some of the shots were really claustrophobic (which is good considering that most of the film takes place on a little boat). I don't know if the translation was just bad, but only about 75% of the stuff that was said actually had subtitles. It's a noble debut for Polanski, but he has done much better things since.
