Review of Klute (1971) by Mike M — 03 Aug 2007
Personally, I find this is one of those instances - like the same year's "McCabe and Mrs. Miller" - where the darkness and obfuscation, the attempts at muddying the generic waters, get in the way of anything like a satisfying narrative; its neuroses are such it's no wonder Bree Daniels keeps returning to her shrink, desperately seeking a clarity the film refuses to provide for her.
What *is* clear is that there are two notable performances here.
