Review of Klute (1971) by Henri L — 17 Mar 2008
This is a very intelligent thriller aiming for both mind and heart. On the surface it's a typical 70's thriller about a private dick and a killer shadowing a prostitue. Hmm. Peel that obvious stuff away though and you find a movie about life not making any sense at all - seen through melancholy eyes that deal with paranoia and loneliness.
NYC is used to perfection, Sutherland shows early great skills of chararcter acting and Fonda delivers one of the best female performances of the entire decade. "Are you a button freak?".
