"Klute" refers to the detective John Klute (Donald Sutherland) agreeing to go on his own to find his friend, Tom Gruneman (Robert Milli) who's been missing for a half a year, and apparently, a call girl, Bree( Jane Fonda) was supposed to have been the last suspected person to been seen with him.
