Review of Klute (1971) by Paul P — 28 Dec 2009
Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland are outstanding. Fonda's portrayal of a call girl isn't your typical "hooker with a heart of gold" The chemistry between the two leads feels very real.
But the story holds them back in a big way. Pakula is focused too much on the story. That works for 'All The President's Men' but here it feels over plotted and very dull at times. Plus I never felt anything on the line outside of the standard, box story crap.
And for a thriller that's an important aspect that is sadly glossed over.
