Review of Klunkerz (2006) by Tibor B — 20 Jun 2010
A must-see for Mountain Bike fans, this tells the story of one of the earliest incarnations of the off road bike, the Marin county "Klunker" community of the mid-late 70s. Director Bill Savage is lucky enough to have scored some film footage of some of the pioneers, and also candid and insightful interviews with most of the big names.
The passion this group had for bikes is infectious, while the rifts that were created once business became big is an interesting case study of some rather laid-back entrepreneurs confronted with sudden massive success, and the different paths they all took.
All still kept one thing at heart though - their love of the freedom of cycling in the great outdoors.
