Review of Kitty Foyle (1940) by Katie M — 26 Aug 2005
Ginger Rogers is a great actress as I've mentioned here. But, I was let down by her performance in "Kitty Foyle". I don't know why. I got this thinking it was a tear-jerker...in a way it was.
I cry at almost everything...but I didn't cry during this movie. This is an ok movie if you are bored and have nothing else to do...but don't get it for an Academy Award kind of movie. I think it had more to do with the story line than Rogers' actual performance.
The ending is the thing I didn't like. I won't give out any spoilers but, it seems like she is settling. And it's not what she really wants but, it's what's best for her. Rogers did earn an Academy Award for this movie.
..so ardent Rogers' fans probably will enjoy this film.
