Review of Kissing Jessica Stein (2002) by Anna B — 05 Dec 2011
Although the ending is a bit of a cop-out and it suffers from the "early 2000s indie film" look, this was much better than I was expecting, with well-drawn and acted secondary characters (usually a major problem in these types of films), and sweet but not cheesy dialogue.
That's all I ask! It does stumble at the end, which is unfortunate (there's really no emotional consequences for the break-up, so it ends up feeling weirdly empty), but in comparison to other entries in the pantheon of lesbian cinema, it's practically perfect.
