Review of Kiss of the Dragon (2001) by M D — 20 May 2009
Jet Li is at his very best as a chinese detective who aids the French police in capturing a criminal to have him testify in court but the stakeout goes awry and Li finds himself framed for the suspects murder.
Chris Nahon directs this gritty 2001 thriller with pinache and it works on all levels, with a realistic style and constant chemistry between the leads Li and Bridget Fonda. Li's energy during the martial-arts fight scenes is mesmerising and brutal.
Tcheky Karyo makes a great screen villain, making his character dispised and interesting to watch at the same time.
