Review of Kiss Me, Stupid (1964) by William C — 08 Dec 2007
Billy Wilder kicked off the beginning of the end of his career with this film. It was condemned by the Legion of Decency and passed off as smut due to its open attitude towards sex.
With its rating today at PG-13, the once sharp-edged humor is much tamer, and the movie's just forgettable now. It's certainly funny in fits and starts, but the message sent (that the best way to test a marriage is through infidelity) is idiotic and just drags the movie down.
