Shane Black (Lethal Weapon) and officially being the film that put Robert Downey Jr. back on the map features him playing a thief trying to steal a toy for his kid and winding up in the middle of a murder investigation.
Ingenious writing, snappy dialogue, and Val Kilmer as a gay detective, this is one of the best movies I've ever seen. Suspenseful, blending film-noire and comedy, and currently under $10 for the terrific Blu-ray on Amazon if you like Val Kilmer, Robert Downey Jr, or just like good comedies and great stories, this movie should be on your netflix que ten minutes ago.
