Somewhat a spoof of the film noir and pretty much crime films overall, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang rightfully delivers on this very premise. Playing his trademark(well, from what I've seen) chatty and intelligent, yet naive character, Downey Jr. fits in perfectly with this type of film. His on-screen chemistry with Val Kilmer only further complements RDJ's perfect fit in this movie. The narrative style is pretty interesting to say the least; a rare case in which the breaking of the fourth wall doesn't disrupt the flow of the movie. This is coupled with some smart, sharp, and pretty damn hilarious dialogue. Satirical homages to the film noir are cleverly placed throughout, from the mismatched traditional film noir music to the hilarious in-movie criticism of ambiguous phrases you'd expect to hear in a crime flick. All in all, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a viable film noir in itself, with a comedic twist, that you wouldn't want to miss.
