Review of Kiss Kiss... Bang Bang (1966) by James S — 13 Dec 2010

This is the slickest movie that the Coen Brothers never made. The tight and witty dialogue and two VERY winning performances from Downey Jr. and Kilmer make up for a frankly irritating performance by the female lead: Michelle Monaghan.

Also the film does several things you don't expect it to do, and when in fact it does follow a cliche, it comments on it as it goes along. Certainly not a film for all tastes, but I laughed hard several times, and the film kept me totally engrossed.
