Review of Kireedam (2007) by Shyam S — 18 Mar 2012
Notwithstanding some minor cliches, this is an engagingly good movie, which marks the debut of director L.Vijay, who would later go on to give equally good movies like Madharasapattinam and Deiva Thirumagal.
Father is a police officer. And naturally he wishes his son to become better than what he had. But it's not going to be all that easy for the son. For, he has to face the odds that are stacked against him.
It may seem like an ordinary storyline, but the kind of heart that Raj Kiran and Ajith put in, makes up for it and a few cliches. Raj Kiran in the role of Ajith Kumar's father, commands appreciation and Ajith has turned his role into one of his career bests.
A Positive premise, all but neat direction, choice acting by the lead, and excellent BGM by G.V.Prakash Kumar( the songs are worth listening more than once, especially 'Kanavellam Palikkuthe') gave the movie an edge over the 'regular dramas' in earning respect from critics and audiences alike.
