Review of Kinsey (2004) by Bill T — 12 Nov 2007
An interesting movie about sex researcher Alfred Kinsey and his groundbreaking survey of American sexual practices. Although there are some nice moments, and I thoroughly agree with the movie's thesis that North Americans are generally screwed-up about sex for no good reason, it felt ultimately unsatisfying to me.
We don't know Kinsey himself - an eccentric and fascinating person - in enough depth to really cement the project. The best bits are structured as parts of the Kinsey survey, and I wished director Condon had stuck with that structure.
