Review of Kinsey (2004) by Peter H — 12 Sep 2008
Caution!
The bio was made nicely into a movie format, and you learn a lot. But there's nothing particularly riveting about the movie, besides the interesting sex stuff and the achievements Kinsey made. (We are all benefactors.).
-- It's interesting to see that Kinsey was a virgin when he married, but by the time he's teaching, his students are experiencing a wide range of STDs premaritally. Quite a difference.
--.
The movie shows all facets of sex--which is helpful but may be offensive to some. I appreciated the overall conclusion that restricting sexuality hampers development, but experimentation also ends up hurting everyone involved. We still need to teach both pros and cons! *One of the best quotes from the movie was, "Sex is a risky game, because if you're not careful, it will cut you wide open." I would recommend this movie, with caution.
