A standard biopic elevated by magnificent performances, a nuanced touch from writer/director Bill Condon, and keen writing.
"Kinsey" manages to provide not only insight into the pioneering sexologist (Liam Neeson) but also a deft view of sexuality in the '40s and '50s; the film nails the sense of taboo, but also the much more elusive humor - and, sometimes, tragedy - of a never-discussed subject so essential to human experience.
