Review of Kinsey (2004) by Amanda W — 30 Sep 2010
Certainly an interesting topic, and it boasts an impressive cast - Laura Linney and Peter Sarsgaard in particular are both very underrated actors, so it was a delight to see them together (Neeson, of course, has an almost seamless performance).
That said, I think the movie could have delved deeper into several areas - for the most part, it's just a glimpse at different areas (and scandals), without really letting those subplots run their course.
As the film is almost two hours long, this is a bit flummoxing. It's a good movie though, and a decent introduction to learning more about Kinsey and his work. Furthermore, it does succeed in portraying the stigma that still surrounds this area of study - Kinsey's monologues about the nature of science are my favorite parts of the film.
