Review of Kink (2013) by Alex W — 06 May 2015
With a subversive topic such as BDSM, it was never going to be easy to make a film that would appeal to a mainstream audience about a topic hugely underground. C. Voros and J. Franco manage to depict a world of exploration, sexual fantasies and overall succeed t humanize the protagonists.
It's not for everyone but it's definitely a very well done documentary about a subject I personally had no insight on previously. This documentary made me rethink the way I perceive some sexual practices and questions the rigid education that one grow up with.
Self experimentation / exploration is after all a huge part of our personal path during our lifetime. If some people find a meaning, happiness and fulfillment in these practices, bless them. It may not be for everyone but I salute the effort to desacralize and de-demoniozed such subject.
