Review of Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015) by 4Dbookcase — 23 Feb 2015
Really dreadful. Kingsman shows some promise and Colin Firth does his best to prop up this movie. However, it all comes undone in the last 20 minutes. Some very crude humor about anal sex and the 3 minute exploding head sequence (feels much, much longer) were the low points.
The trailer tries to make this film look cool and stylish, it is neither. The director can't seem to resist dumb special effects and one-note jokes. When you have Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Caine and Colin Firth, you should be able to do much better than this.
Don't know if he was trying to be true to the graphic novel or just wanted to tick some marketing check boxes. Just a huge waste of time and money. If you are looking for something to entertaining to watch, look elsewhere.
