Review of Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015) by Bheema D — 07 Aug 2016
Kingsman successfully applies modernity to a classic formula, bringing the best elements of newer action movies like The Matrix and older action films like From Russia with Love. It is creative and gripping while simple.
Its action sequences utilize slow-motion and close-ups to be able to illustrate the emotions and thoughts occurring throughout the action sequence while maintaining a incredibly fast-pace that would otherwise render these scenes too fast to be properly analyzed.
It is not the originality of the storyline - for there is absolutely none - but the various familiarity, finding elements of nearly a dozen notable action thrillers found in its thread. The reason why this film did not truly ascend as a cult classic is that this combination cannot properly register with those who don't appreciate the rarity and novelty of the combination, and thus it fails to reach a very wide audience for reasons other than its subpar marketing.
