Review of Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015) by Daniel L — 29 Dec 2015
The single classiest bloodbath ever.
Unlike a lot of movies that get delayed like Seventh Son and Jupiter Ascending, I kept hope in Kingsman because of two reasons, Matthew Vaughn and it's fantastic cast. Those 2 reasons alone gave me hope, and it delivered. Kingsman was one of the best times I've ever had in a theatre. Before this movie, my favorite Vaughn film was Layer Cake but now, this has surpassed it. For his breakout performance, Taron Egerton delivers an awesome performance, it's easy to see him become an upcoming star. Colin Firth was my favorite character in this movie, a few days ago I watched Bridget Jones's diary, where he has a slap fight with Hugh Grant, here he's one of the most badass characters ever, seeing him in an action scenes (where he does most of his stunts) is badass. The supporting cast which includes Mark Strong and Michael Caine are great and Sam Jackson is great playing a Mike Tyson-esque villain works well. Matthew Vaughn adds huge energy and style into this film which makes the already entertaining movie even more awesome. Vaughn doesn't hold back on these action scenes as well, these action scenes aren't just stylish and original, but gory, and I loved every second of them. They're not just entertaining as hell, but intense as well. The church scene is now one of my favorite action scenes ever. The dialogue is wickedly original and witty, they make all these characters likable and interesting. I loved every second of this movie, and has now become one of my favorite movies, I'll give it a 10 I'm definitely picking it up on Blu Ray.
