Review of Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015) by S P — 20 Jul 2016
Kingsman is for people with very low IQ and the hype was a con-job. I don't have a high IQ and I enjoy watching mindless violence and childish plots but this was just plain too idiotic. Really terrible story, no morality or confused morality and things they thought were cool were just pathetic.
The acting from the bigger names was atrocious apart from Firth (Caine and Boutella did well but had simple roles to play - not much acting required). Apart from those its well made, polished, well directed, high budget, looks stylish and I liked the video game style in some parts.
I cannot believe Sir Michael Caine was involved with this, but then he was probably duped into it. No doubt we will have endless sequels as there are plenty of mindless people to be fleeced by this kind of pulp product.
The one thing the reviews on RT and on IMDB prove that the industry has pawned the critic sites. They appear to be reviews about how much money a film could make rather than the art value or popularity.
