Review of Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) by Davrosdaleks1 — 25 Feb 2018
A lot of people complain about how this film is more campy and less serious. But, that's why I like this one. I felt the previous film to be a bit atonal, unable to balance the seriousness with the comic campiness. This one I found to be more consistent.
I accept this for what it is: a colorful thrill ride. There is good over the top action all around. Especially liked the villain's hideout being 1950's Americana-themed. Added a unique look.
Digged Julianne Morre as the villain Poppy. She was the right balance of humorous and nuts. I feel credit should be give to Hanna Alström as Princess Hilde. They really evolved her role from her controversial bit part in the last film. Also, there is a celebrity in this who was very entertaining as he seemed to be totally game with what was going on screen. What I also liked about the film was its satirical look at the hypocrisy behind what substances should and shouldn't be illegal.
I do admit there were a couple things that bugged me. A lot of the female characters in this film were given short thrift and Channing Tatum was underutilized.
Still I liked this overall. Just watch this if you want to have a fun time without thinking.
