Review of Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) by Jonathan D — 12 Feb 2018
Obviously this wasn't going to be as good as the first one, which hit the public out of nowhere. But I did enjoy this film. It's a little bit too long but it upholds the charm of the first film and the comedy elements.
The villain isn't as gripping as the previous, and the plot is pretty similar when taken to the bone. But the formula works. Can't blame them for that. The introduction of an American secret service made for something new, which added to the original charm that the film held.
The characters are just as good as they were the first time round. Even for a light-hearted comedy you do care about the main characters to some extent. The action sequences were of course brilliant. Obviously its lost the shock factor of what I can only call awesome, but that doesn't mean they aren't still good.
Anyone who watched the first film more than once will understand that. Sometimes it does play off and rely on the first film too much, but that isn't to take away from what is still an enjoyable and fun film.
