Review of Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) by Anya E — 28 Oct 2017
I went into this movie very excited. The first was fun and witty with a compelling story.
The second fell a bit flat. It was too long and I still felt like parts were a bit rushed. They tried to jam too many details into place akin to someone shoving the wrong puzzle pieces into what could have been a decent picture with a bit more patience and refinement.
There were too many characters that went undeveloped. They had a great weapon, but a weird villain whose backstory almost worked, but didn't quite come together. They also killed off most of the interesting characters that would have made a third movie worth watching. I felt as if they made characters do things that didn't make sense and used cheap humor to get a laugh.
I still liked bits of the movie and some performances were good. The person I went with had a good time, but I found myself asking questions that were not answered throughout the film. If you have almost three hours you are looking to waste and you don't feel like downloading an app, starting a new hobby, or binge watching Stranger Things, then I say go for it. At the very least you will get to see some cool spy weapons and a couple of handsome dudes.
