Review of Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) by Tyler L — 20 Sep 2017

Kingsman The Golden Circle is a lot of fun and if you liked the first one then you'll probably get some enjoyment out of it. However it's not perfect. It suffers a lot from sequelitis. Meaning it feels like it exists, just to exist.

Which would be fine, if they had an interesting story. I went into this movie completely blind, having not seen any of the trailers. But as soon as the plot got going, I could predict most of the movie from there.

There are even seems that directly parallel scenes from the first movie. The action is a lot of fun. Much like the first movie, it's grotesque and over the top. The problem is that with that returns the shaky cam and the fast editing.

And while the first movie kept that relatively under control, this one went a bit overboard. Almost to the point of making me dizzy. On top of that, the movie is too damn long! Not only are there certain scenes and characters that feel unnecessary and pointless, but there is a part where they make you think the plot is finally wrapping up, and then it keeps going for another 20 minutes.

But despite all these problems, it's still an entertaining movie. The comedic moments are funny, the action is cool and most of the characters are interesting and memorable. I just wish they could've made the rest of the movie great, or at least as good as the first one.

If you wanna kill 2 hours while your kids watch The LEGO Ninjago Movie, then this is a pretty good way to do it.
