Review of Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV (2016) by Thenkindler — 29 Nov 2016
Acting: I was impressed with the cast over all. Nyx is strong and emotive while the chancellor of Niffelheim and the King are highly believable. Unfortunately some of the supporting cast is not as convincing. 7/10 Animation: Absolutely mind-blowing. The attention to detail is obsessive, environments are realised in lustrous fashion and characters look lifelike. I can only fault the mouthing of the characters not being an entirely convincing conjunction with the voice acting. 10/10.
Writing and Plot: Solid overall but unless you're at least a bit clued up on FFXV lore before you watch the movie you could miss a lot. A shame since I feel that the story is quite heartfelt albeit a bit cheesy. The writing was good but in some places there are noticeable inconsistencies. 7/10.
Conclusion: A short review, I know, but the effort and the lengths that have gone into realising the FFXV universe in this 2-hour action packed behemoth are saluted and thoroughly appreciated. It was absolutely awesome and had me riveted all the way through. Kingsglaive reinforces the notion that the value of the whole is synonymous with the sum of its parts.
